Dual antennas,can you add one to older phantom

Im just catching up to the news that the new phantom 1.1.1 are shipping with 2 antennas,so has anybody tried adding another antenna to the phantoms that only have one?

The new 2-antenna receiver is a $15 part, but I think it also requires a different tx than what comes with the 1-antenna version?

I'm sure someone on here can confirm whether the 1.1.1 rx still binds with a ppm tx . However my understanding is that it's switched to be dedicated d-bus.
