Stick the sd card in a usb reader and you should see it in explorer.

Whenever I put an SD card in the slot Adobe Lightroom asks to importing them.
Obviously you don't edit video with it, but it creates a logical folder structure making it easy to find things later.
However you import, it's probably best to keep things organised by date and use year/month/day in the folder name.
