Do I need to have the DGI go running with other apps?

Does it need to be run along with Drone deploy, Map pilot or, Litchi. I have been starting up my drone with DJI go and switching to Drone deploy without turning off DJI. Is this necessary? Do the other apps do all the needed startup checks?

No. You should only run one app at a time.

And have nothing else running in the background ....on an iPad, two quick presses on the main menu button, then swipe each application up , to shut other apps down.

Like you have done, switching between Go and 3rd party apps is possible by a single press of the home button, and has never caused me any issues. You can not switch between two 3rd party apps, for instance DronePan and Litchi. Only one 3rd party app can be open at a time

I fly Litchi nearly 100% from launch to landing and never even open Go. But, for instance, if I want to fly DronePan, I don't try to fly to the location with Litchi, I fly to the location with Go, and then switch to DronePan
