DJI and uAvionix Corporation announced Wednesday they will collaborate on an ADS-B based collision avoidance developer kit to help integrate drones into the national airspace system and help keep America’s skies safe.

Better link, and I predicted it would go in this direction, the only real way to integrate unmanned systems into national airspace.

Remember, the FAA 'lumps' all remote controlled aircraft under the same class , sUAS, so any mandate to install equipment like this would apply to all of them . And Congress would still have to lift the restriction on the FAA regulating hobby flying in any way.
Note, the FAA has already taken comments and decided NOT to require extra equipage such as ads-b on sUASs. Check page 193 in the full Part 107 text.
