"DESERIALIZER DISCONNECT- hardware fail - contact DJI"

Anybody heard of this? I got it halfway through my Firmware update for the RC controller, which needed it because I added the HDMI module. Now the controller won't connect and I get the above Alert. I've opened up a ticket with DJI, just wondered if anybody has any ideas before I send it in.
 
This isn't a common error. A few people are discussing it in this thread on the DJI forum.

Try removing and reconnecting the bottom ribbon cable behind the HDMI output module.
 
Did you try putting the original module back in your remote controller?

Anyway , from the technical support chat line , here is the way you reset a phantom 4 controller:

With the controller on, hold down the C1 and C2 and shutter buttons and turn the unit off.

Then when you restart it ,it will have to be reconnected to the aircraft.

No go for me...same hardware fault.
 
Here's the update so far. No expert that I can contact or anything on the web says exactly how this needs to be fixed if the ribbon looks intact. So Sunday night I filled out the repair request, receive a prepaid UPS label to send it back today, will update this thread on the status of the repair and what it was. So far, liking DJI support
