Instructions from DBS say to drill in top of remote, but have noticed some people drilling in the bottom.

Any advantages or disadvantages for doing in the bottom?

one big disadvantage when in bottom is you can't take the complete bottom of the controller without disconnecting the antenna wires again.... No problems when they're in the top.

The DBS instructions are really just guidelines. It's your mod. You can do it any way you want - and Chuck even mentions that in at least one of his videos.

I did it on the top, which fits perfectly in my backpack case.

I did bottom and wish I had done top now for a few reasons.
1. If you are at any point going to mount on a tripod this can get in the way a little generally make it a pain to set up and potentially damaging cables.
2. Most antennas you will use will be either out in front of the rc or above so longer cables will probably be needed.
The only benefit I can see is if you use amps which most ppl mount underneath so this may be a better option, I've yet to try this though.
