Current firmware for P330CB-H3-2D & H3-2D

I'm trying to get my H3-2d gimbal to work for the first time after install ing a P330CB hardboard upgrade. I just read that I need to back down to my Hero 3 - maybe that's the problem, but I doubt it because I'm getting zero response from the gimbal after doing an initial firmware upgrade as prompted by my NAZA-M V2 software. (my X1 radio channel is calibrated)

My "Upgrade" tab in the software is reporting:

P330CB = 1.1.2.1
Gimbal CMU = 1.0
Gimbal IMU 1.2

That conflicts with this page on DJI's website:

Important:

Phantom users with the P330CB-H3-2D central board should upgrade their firmware using the latest NAZA-M assistant software. The “V1.4 Gimbal IMU” upgrade can be found on the “Upgrade” page.
Other users should upgrade the “main controller” to V1.6 and the “IMU” to V1.4 using the latest Zenmuse H3-2D assistant software. Both upgrades can be found on the “Upgrade” page.

What am I missing in getting this gimbal talking to the main controller and responding as it should with leveling and tilt control from the controller?
