Controller software issue

Ok so I'm thinking of buying a p3 advanced but the seller is saying there is a software malfunction in the controller causing it not to connect
This was caused by updating the firmware

Can this happen ?
How do we fix this ?
I have another controller from my p3 4K will this work ?

You cannot use a P34K remote controller with a P3A (if that's what you're suggesting).

The P34K remote controller transmits the downlink via Wi-Fi. The P3A remote controller transmits the downlink via Lightbridge.
