The battery charger provides a DC voltage power source to charge the battery, which provides a DC power source to the P3. Can I hook up the DC charger directly to the P3 to use it on the ground? My kid likes to play with the DJI simulator and I wonder if I can bypass my DJI battery. Thanks.

You would need a 15.4V regulated supply (easy) AND some way to replicate the battery electronics (phantom will not power on until it has interrogated the battery and confirmed it is a DJI OEM, or something pretending to be). You may be able to butcher a gen battery and connect +Ve and GND from your regulated supply to the pcb where the cells are ordinarily terminated.

I recall several posts in the past about fried electronics as a result of long simulator sessions. So in any case be sure to have some sort of fan moving air across the center of the aircraft, but especially if you can keep on going without the battery running out!
