'Ello, so I have a Windows 8 (not 8.1) computer with the latest (3.6) Phantom 2 Assistant Software, but when I try connecting the Phantom 2 Vision+ to my computer with the cable, my computer does the generic USB connection sound, but nothing comes of it. The Phantom is on, and when I start the software there's a startup box before it actually opens the program with a "skip" button with no real indication of what I'm skipping. Is it trying to connect there or should I not be skipping that if it is trying to connect? Any ideas? Thanks!

Yes, I downloaded the program and turned on the quad, connected the cord into the front (not the camera), pressed "skip" and those lights aren't flashing in the program. The drone just sits with the yellow flashing rear lights

You seem to have missed the bit about the driver.
From DJI downloads page - install manually first.

Did you install the dji driver itself, you should have 3 program's, one is the Rc asst one the phantom asst and the third as mentioned is the driver for USB interface.

I found that its best to start the installer then connect the phantom USB cable when it asks then you should see a DOS box appear and windows will install the software as needed.

+1.

There are three things to download

1. The phantom assistant
2. The controller assistant
3. The drivers for the phantom

Without the drivers it won't work. Also (and maybe it's not obvious) the phantom needs to be on :)
