Hey - I tried resurrecting a thread on this subject but the response was to the original poster and not to the question I am trying to get an answer to.

I am traveling next week and, for piece of mind, I want to have both of my P3P's with me... I will carry one on (with all the extra batteries) and I want to check the second one with just the Phantom, a couple chargers and the controller.

For those of you who have CHECKED your phantom before on an airline - what kind of case did you have and did you do anything special to protect the gimbal? (besides putting the gimbal lock on)

I have this case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XM39PTE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00

I just want to make sure I am taking every precaution to ensure the Phantom makes it in one piece :)

velcro the gimbal lock on
pad the compass
carry cable ties in case they cut your lock off

I was just going to cable tie it anyway... I have heard that they cut off locks a lot.... so why waste the money. Thanks or the added advice :)
