I've learned that I need a better battery charger, to prolong the life of these Lipos.

But there are quite a few out there. Is there one model/brand generally agreed to be the best?

well, in that thread we discussed best "multiple" battery solution.

However, to answer the OP's question.. there really is no "best" charger that stands out (tho perhaps the Hitek 4x charger is the most popular high-end model).

Just about any 4-button style charger will work fine for charging a single lipo
they're all very similar (if not the same electronics)
..anything is better than the Phantom charger!

lots to choose from at hobbyking.com

In case anyone cares, I decided on the Tenergy TB6-B.

You need to find something that can output more than 5A to make it worthwhile - I've got batteries that can be charged at 8C, but if it still takes me 90 minutes to charge all four batteries because of the charger's limited current.

Fixed up this charging box today:

Are these boxes really necessary? I mean, Ive heard of LIPO's exploding but isnt that because someone decided to charge a "bulging" or damaged LIPO? Arent they as safe as charging your laptop? I realize were talking about Nicad and Lipo, but what Im referring to is the actual likelyhood of a fire or explosion.
