Brightness of video on my tablet?

Was briefly using my Nexus 7 today with the Phantom on an overcast day, but it was bright. I had my tablet brightness turned all the way up and had NO problems reading any of the interface text, icons, etc. However, the video are itself didn't seem very bright and very difficult to look at compared to the interface. Is there anything I can do about that?
