I know that may be an oxymoron, but I am looking to purchase a case for my newly acquired Phantom 2, and something that can also hold my gopro and toys...

Just curious if anyone has a good dealer to use, or a reliable dealer online.

Thanks!!

So many brands and types out there around the $150-$300 range. I personally use a $30 Nylon bag from China, same one's you see on ebay if you type DJI bag and lowest price + shipping option. Its great for travel and I can carry it on board a plane without to much weight.

I decided to get a Go Professional Case Limited Edition Backpack. Hard cases are cool, but they're not going to be ideal for when I hike.

That's because most people have experience only with one case/backpack and offer biased opinions. "I have this one and I like it." --- doesn't mean that's the best.

yes I have searched the forums, and alot of vague or one sided answers are given.....
Also, everyone has their own opinion of what the best case is. My idea of the best case may be different from yours. One guy might like hard cases, but while I think they're cool, I think they're impractical (for me) to hike or bike with. Thus, I went with a backpack.

One guy has a review on multiple cases and bags, which ultimately solidified my decision to go with the GPC Limited Edition Backpack.

GPC Hard Case: http://flytpath.com/goprocases-com-dji- ... xb-dji-p2/

GPC Limited Edition Backpack: http://flytpath.com/gpc-dji-phantom-2-b ... edition-2/

Others can be found here: http://flytpath.com/reviews/

That backpack is very nice. i have a Vanguard II 48 that i reconfigure when I want to take the Phantom. Today I'm traveling and taking a Mini and a Micro so i can reconfigure for that, but i do like that GPC limited edition backpack.

$46.99
A rock solid case: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/22-24120
I spin off the two left props when I stow in the case; fast and easy.

I followed your advice, thank you so much for that. I love the case! It was a bit tricky getting the foam cutout nicely but it turned out pretty well overall and definitely seems really sturdy. I have a bit different layout and also saved some room on the left side for an FPV monitor once I get that setup down the road (hopefully sooner than later). The props are stashed below between two of the foam layers, along with the batteries for the controller (which I'll be adding a nook for shortly). Pretty sweet saving $100+ with this DIY project. It's not perfect, eventually I may get some new foam and do it a bit cleaner but function-wise it's spot on, that would be more for aesthetics.

I think the MCM case looks nice but from the specs I think it's a bit too large for most carry on luggage. Has anyone carried it on an airplane?

I'm trying to decide on a case that I can leave the props on my P2 when closed but is small enough to carry on. What's the best suggestion? Goprofessional? Pelican or MCM?

Thanks for your tips i'll be buying soon

I like it too. It is built like a Pelican case.

If a carry on, then removing the props is worth it to find something small enough. And, a carry on would not need to be that rugged.

I decided to go ahead and order a goprofessional backpack to replace the cheap eBay one I had. I got it for under $200 at http://www.extremeuas.com/products/go-p ... 2-backpack

I may get that hard case in the future but for now I need a better backpack since I do a lot of hiking to fly

i also found the one at MCM and i think its perfect for my needs.. right now with coupon it was less than $46 shipped.. here is a video I put up yesterday about the case..

Yep.. same one I purchased from MCM back in early June. Then they sold out and ordered qty 1000 more. MCM finally received their qty 1000 backorder in late August and then I purchased qty 2 more.

I've been looking into purchasing a 1/8" to 1/4" thick foam type matt to cut out and lay over the case foam. That would give it a more professional look and help prevent foam cubes from falling out as the case ages.

Be aware that the version you ordered is the non-Limited Edition. The ones going for $239 are using Rush 5.11 72 packs, while the one you ordered is using a pack from Fieldline. It's essentially the same backpack, but Walmart quality.

interesting.. well it's much much better than the Ebay backpack I had and no comparison between the two really. This one the internal foam is tough not soft like my previous Ebay one. I'd feel comfortable putting this in the overhead as a plane carry on. The backpack itself didn't feel cheap to me but I don't have it to compare with the other GPC backpack. I felt it was worth the money. I already took it up and mountain the other day and flew with it.
