I tried to do firmware update. The controller says it is the latest version. Now it won't see the batteries and it will not allow me to reset the IMU. It frequently says "aircraft warming up".

Did you double check to make sure you downloaded the proper version for the aircraft? Pro vs. Adv. vs. Std.?
Did you upgrade the transmitter via the DJI Go app as well as the firmware of the aircraft by downloading the firmware file from the website and uploading it on the micro SD card?
