Been thinking about this for a while, would it be possible to mount a 5.8ghz ariel on a tripod mount then a pole up to the top to increase height and give further reception coverage?

like a mobile ariel that can be eventually screwed into my transmitter or into a signal amplifier like a 20w amplifier then into my dji transmitter?

Looked on the net at 19dbi hi gain antennas for 2.4ghz band 50w output flat panel then a pole 15dbi 5gz these are high power and should give the drone excellent signal strength for both video and control.?

Generally, getting it higher is a good thing for range. Amps are needed along with good cables. And remember, the higher the gain, the narrower the beam. You will have to aim it. Personally, I would go with less than half that gain.

I've been trying to get a better angle over the trees in the distance from my property. I tried it several times but it didn't work out for my ridiculously narrow beam (20' aluminum pole, Sunhans amp, CA400 cable, 27 dbi flat panel antenna w/ 4.5 degree beamwidth). I do want to try it again with a more-normal antenna such as an ITELITE but haven't yet.

Re amps, nobody that I've seen has been successful at coming up with an amp that can power our RC transmitter to more than 4 watts or so. People say it can be done but nobody ever does it. I'm still waiting for somebody to come up with something.

I am currently researching this and will contact antenna specialists here in the Uk to see if I can get an idea of best for puurpose including signal amps.
