The Silver Bullet - Redneck Amphibious FC40 PROTOTYPE

Anyone want to do the weight & buoyancy calculations on this. I don't have a scale.

I know it flies... :p
It floats as pictured with a 2700 mAh battery (in the bathtub) at about 3/4" above the bottom of the landing gear...

Materials List: = 113.0 grams
4 Pint cans, (drink contents first) then rinse and dry
2 feet 2" Packing tape
40" Bell wire (20 awg, I think)

Disclaimer:
Just because I gave you the idea doesn't mean I'm responsible for your actions. :)
It's meant to be funny. Trolls please use the back button.

UPDATE:

Why didn't anyone try to save me from myself?

I said I knew it would fly because I did so for 3 seconds this morning. This evening, I took it outside.
This video makes me laugh like hell because I was there trying to keep it flying in a normal manner. I was able to keep it off the ground with almost full throttle for another 50 yards, downhill, before it refused to fly anymore.

Here's the test flight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGWgu_4 ... e=youtu.be

OOOw,

I'm gonna go to Wahoo Likkers tomorrow and see if they have any 12oz cans with a screw on top.
The pint cans were too bulky & heavy.
Anybody know where I can find a skinny aluminum can that's got a screw top and is at least 14" long?

And, on a more serious note, I have started to collect "what I find to be" very informative posts and will be plagiarizing them at http://www.wynotweb.com. I'll be rich and famous and won't speak to any of you folks anymore. At the moment there's just this experiment. And the stuff I've added since.
So, smart gals/guys, shoot me your stuff if you think it's already refined and ready to publish.

Thanks

I believe your material list should have read:
4 Pint cans, (drink contents first) then rinse and dry. :D

Okay so now I have an option to overcome my fear of flying over water LOL

umm this sounds like a good idea for those of us who fear flying over water

now if someone could make a parachute that would deploy if the battery fails in flight

OP has seen this but for those that haven't a FC40 was my first love and it did this to me ! :?
Wife found it 5 months after I lost it  So don't laugh at floats as this didn't

Wow. That's one of the worst condition Phantoms I've ever seen, lol

I have new data, Wahoo

My floats weighed in at 113 grams, so I am "Absolutly Positive" FOMM that the weight was not the issue in my amphibious FC40 video.

I was having serious issues with something else. I'm going to have to try that again.

Stand by for another episode of "As the prop turns".
