Aircraft connect to RC in order to map cache?

I'm In a rural area and need to map cache for a field about 1/3 of a mile away. Cell reception is OK in the field (I think), data reception very slow if at all.

The house has routed internet which runs good.

Can I cache without the AC? Without the RC?

Seems to me with P3S you can, from what I've read.

What about p3A version 1.10. Air Pad 2?

I don't recall being able to get the camera function without AC/RC connection.

I don't want to bring the bird inside the relative's house to cache if don't have to. Lest a hundred kids badger me senseless.

I'be only flown once in a local park. I'm now visiting 230 acres of open drone land!

Not sure about IOS but you can cache maps without AC or RC on Android with P3A. I do it all the time with Litchi.
Just make sure that once you cache the maps and close the app. Turn off the WI FI. Ive forgotten that part a couple of times.
