A question about bitrate

Hi - what sort of bitrate should my video be once I have edited it in FCPX and exported it using H264 assuming video shot in 1080 a 24fps.

I just can't rid this nagging feeling that there is something wrong with my video quality as I am unable to shoot any video with quality I am happy with and once processed with FCPX it looks really crunchy.

Also why is the video I export from FCP always at a different bitrate?

I would say you need to be around 25mbps for full HD @ 24fps.

So my video after being edited in FCPX is 12.9Mbps

My understanding is the bit rate is transmission rate from the bird to the controller.
NOT what is recorded on the SD card.
