I made a $5 sun shade for my Mini 2. Duct tape was involved, that makes it all good. Several flights, and it works fantastic.

I got a piece of display board from Hobby Lobby (leave your man card in the truck). It is white on one side and flat black on the other. A perfect combo for heat management and anti-glare.

It is hard to describe the constancy of this product, but it is almost like a cross between poster board and plastic. Very light, but just right to be structurally strong. The product label is in the pics if you want to find it.

It was simple to make. Measure and cut. It holds in the tx from the weight of the Mini, like many store bought shades. I added some velcro to hold the flaps, and some white duct tape at the hinges. If folds flat and fits in my backpack (all the way in)

If you are in the US, you probably know the tune, so sing along as you build:

I believe I'm going to do this when I get home from work today. I have plenty of this stuff lying around in the garage. Thanks for the pictures... and a hilarious post!

Great Sunshade! If you live close to a Dollar Tree Store, you can buy the display board for $1

Got to Hobby Lobby's website and you can print a '40% off one item' coupon
