Hi

I made battery modification on my Fc40. First I made batterytray under Phantom fuselage, material I use, is 2mm acrylic.
4000mah Gens Ace battery weights 320 gr. Two 2200mah battery weights 400 gr.

I have gimlbal and Gopro Hero3+ installed. With this 4000mah battery, C.G is perfect. I have also 9" Vision props.
On my first test flight, start rain, so I had to land, before first level protction.

I am a FC40 beginner. ( I purchased it few days ago. )

Can I install two 4000 mAh Batteries on FC 40 ? ( For 30 minutes flight time. )

where did you buy the 4000mAh battery?

I want to try this.

Thank you !!!

( I have no gimbal, gopro Hero3+.... nothing installed on my FC40. Just FC40 Camera installed. )

30min won't happen, and 2 4000mah batteries will be flyable but quite heavy.

To hit 30min on 8000mah you need to be about 1200g auw.

I now understand it.

Thank you so much.

Anyways, Can I use two 4000 mAh batteries at the same time on FC40?

Still.... curious.............

The stock FC40 battery is a 2200mah that weighs around 180grams.
some people rig theirs up to run dual Phantom batteries, but the consensus is that many find it makes the Phantom too heavy (especially when you include a gimbal and GoPro (which is around 280g or so)
two Phantom batteries weight around 360g or so

- so it doesn't take much imagination to think of what two 320g batteries, at a total weight of 640g would be like.
way too heavy.
maybe it'll take off if you fly without a gimbal, but I still wouldn't pursue the thought.

But anxious to hear what kind of performance/flight time one gets from a single 4000mah that weighs only 320g.

Hi

Soon after I have made first "full" test flight, I will let you know. If I get 15-16 min flight with this configuration, I am happy...
Firts experience was very positive.

With this battery "tray", it is possible to use Gens Ace 5000mah battery (weight 415 gr)

I live in Finland and I bought battery on Finish online shop. You can find it also here..

(you have to change the battery connector, (T-plug=>CT60-plug)

Thank you so much, Gizmo3000 and FCPhantom,

From now on, I stop thinking a bold idea.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Possible idea....

1. one 2200/2700 mAh Battery ( inside )
2. two 2200/2700 mAh Batteries ( two sides )
3. one 4000/5000 mAh Battery ( under/middle )

Hi

First flight with 4000mah battery done. 13,30 min when the first level protection came. Flight was not just hovering.
I think it is possible to get 15 min flight time. Result is quite good, with gimbal and Gopro.

So how is it that the Phantom 2 Vision + gets 30 min ? Doesnt that craft also fly a 5200 mah battery?

I need to try your battery - with my 5200 with gimbal and gopro I'm only getting 10-11 before the first level red light comes

Hi FCPhantom,

If I may ask what is your auw with the 4000mah battery. I am struggling with flight time on mine. I have the 9" Vision props on with gimbal and gopro. My Phantom+Gimbal+ Gopro =1073kg, if I add 1x2200mah battery the auw is 1240kg and I get 7min flight time. Yesterday I add 2x 2200mah batteries with auw 1410kg and got 5min flight but could not keep it airborne it started to decent quicly. Battery reading was at 11.6v and my first level is set at 11.1v ???? I would like to add the boscam fpv but scared that is extra weight and it will be too heavy.
