Think this kind of falls under the guise of a video, albeit an interactive one?! Had my Phantom 2 couple of months now, weather has been rubbish in that time limiting flight time meaning have had to stick to very local areas during breaks in the weather.

With that, soon got bored of capturing video from same location so thought would try something different and create a 360 degrees VR panorama, surprisingly easy to do once I'd figured out settings for the various bits of software and GoPro settings for the flight.

Anyone else done something similar? Love to see some other examples!

Beautiful panoramic!!

What software did you use?

Thanks!

Few bits of software to piece this together...

VLC Media Player to pull the stills from the 4k video
Adobe Lightroom to clean up the stills and edit
PTGui Pro to create the panorama
Adobe Photoshop CC to clone in the missing sky
Pano2VR to create the final 360 VR

Simple :D

Well done. Will be trying that myself soon. I wonder when Google will start using drones to capture images like this?

Excellent James, well done !!

1 question, how many stills did you need to pull from the video?

Hi James, my steam powered XP pro wouldn't let me watch your panorama effort (i'll try on a mac when one comes home) but I had just come across this:

apparently done from a Phantom...Quite impressive although I assume it wasn't a 2 Vision as I don't think you can tilt the camera down as much as is shown.

Thanks, just knocked up another one as it happens from whilst was out walking dog earlier this evening -> http://www.jamesfarley.co.uk/chester-meadows-360-vr/

Both of these were around 40 frames in total, quite a big overlap between some of them but PTGui seems to handle this very well

is there a dummies version of doing this, very nice work ?

I've had a few people ask about the workflow for this so I'll throw a blog post together detailing the steps in a week or so and post back here when done.

Did you ever come up with that Dummy guide. I've a Phantom 2 vision and was wondering how best to approach a full spherical 360. Any guidance would be welcome.

Not feeling the love James. Got the 404 thing going.
