At 700 feet up you have a much easier time communicating with your bird, try it at 390 feet and then you will be "in the club" Your windsurfer will surely help you achieve greater distance closer to the ground. The 32 channel hack will let you pick a better frequency that does not have as much interference but you may want to research your governing laws to see if that is a good choice for you or not.

If that's what the math tells you yes. 7 miles round trip. My battery was actually at 1% by the time I was landing it in front of me. I was scared as s#*%t. Lol

Been there done that
I was at 7% on landing the last 13000 ft was with a cross wind chewing at the battery.
