The sun was out, even if our high temperature for the day was only 30 degrees. I wanted to explore an area that I saw on a satellite map. We parked at the Wetmore Pond lot and hiked the trail towards Hogback Mountain but turned South down the rail-trail until we hit the backside of Wetmore Pond. Then we bushwacked up and over some bluffs until I spotted a likely vantage to fly my drone from. That was when we spotted the white reflective triangles nailed to some trees marking a trail. Harumph. I suspected that it was the Lilly Pond loop and verified my suspicions by the trail map back in the parking lot, later. From the highest point along the trail we could see Hogback and Sugarloaf Mountains. I really enjoyed how rustic the trail was, even if it was very well marked. I was able to get some footage with my drone before the wind picked up. After packing up my drone we completed the loop. The Lilly Pond was glazed over with a skim coating of ice. It was pretty neat. We had a great hike.
