Not bad!

Looks like I may have to beat my 3.8 mile record, just to keep ahead ;)

Yeah, but you didn't come back to your starting point....! So can't really compare... :D

True, but it shows that it is possible to control and use FPV at 4 miles no problem.

I have done 10.9 KM :)

The point is, furthest distance and coming back to your starting point...

Yes sure, if battery wasn't the problem could go even further...I assume

Correct, the battery is our enemy.

Have you got Flytrex data for the 10.9Km?
I am interested in your flight speed and altitude.

Sure: http://www.flytrex.com/mission/quadcopt ... yer-22644/[/quote]

Cool.

I think you would easily get more distance if you kept your speed steady.
I notice that you started high and slowly descended, which is a good way to save battery power.

Excellent. Three questions:

1) What % of battery you turned around, and what % of battery you landed?

2) Which mods to your transmitter? The TP-Link antenna mod or something else?

3) Did you fly in ATTI or GPS mode?

Thanks! :D

1. Turned around at 55%, landed with 3%
2. None, all standard
3. Mainly ATTI, only after 4km with GPS, in case of failsafe.

just so I understand, this 10.4KM flight was with a standard, out of the box Phantom and TX?

I'm still too scared to go more than 1000' away.

I thought the range of a standard out of the box Phantom 2 was 500 meters??

Re: 10.4 KM flight, 5.2 KM each way. With video and flytrex

Thats the Phantom 2 Vision

Re: 10.4 KM flight, 5.2 KM each way. With video and flytrex

wow that's really impressive... I've been curious/nervous too myself about the distance possible with stock remote control. that's what you meant by "transmitter" right? So you went out past 5km with the plain jane out of the box remote control with the little white antenna?
that'll make me feel better about my short flights, although you had very clear LOS too that's a bonus.
