A future part of quad safety? repost:Raffaello D'Andrea

Raffaello D'Andrea TED talk on quads https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2itwFJCgFQ I saw this video posted 2 times on this forum but nobody mentioned what I thought was pretty incredible, which was their algorithm developed to fly a quad on only 2 of the 4 motors. If implemented, it seems like a...

    Remove GPS components?

I appreciate the replies. I was wanting to remove it for the weight, since i'm not using it. I know it probably doesn't weigh much, but it could offset part of the FPV equip I've put on there. Race3 and other's comments would be more relevant if it could reliably see all the satellites...

    Remove GPS components?

Has anyone tried removing the GPS components on the Phantom? Is it possible to do without issue? I never ever get 6 satellites so I have pretty much always flown in Atti, plus I don't trust flyaways / not coming home - - a lot seem to be initiated while in GPS mode. GPS seems like a gimmick or...

Just crashed and lost mine:( [FOUND!]

those DJI prop nuts are garbage - - - after I had a couple of them fly off, I bought simple locking nuts which are actually reliable to stay on.

Almost lost - learn from this!

thanks for all the insights I ended up ordering a very small gps tracker - lets see if it works! I'm planning on velcro-ing it to the phantom, so I can just put it on when I plan on going higher than a couple hundred feet. If it really doesn't weigh it down too much, I may keep it on their all...

Almost lost - learn from this!

thanks for that advice -- - i never thought about how many green blinks, but I'll look for 20+ from now on. so far, if i am in an urban area, it can be hard to get all green blinks. Now I have my number on it and i'll be ordering a secondary GPS soon...

Almost lost - learn from this!

I was incredibly lucky not to have lost my phantom - it was gone for more than a few moments. I had the bright idea to take it up at night (my 4th or 5th flight ever), I was feeling a little cocky since I made some big strides that day in terms of getting better at orientation in flight, and I...

    Vibrations on video (brushless gimbal)

cool - hopefully its a simple prop issue... by the way, how are your flight times with the gimbal, gopro, and fpv? I have yet to test my fg-ph3 gimbal, but I would guess that with that alone, the time would be cut down to about 7 mins.

    Goodluckbuy 2-axis Gopro 3 brushless gimbal tutorial/review

Re: Goodluckbuy 2-axis Gopro 3 brushless gimbal tutorial/rev thanks a lot for the response - - I'm now back to having some hope that the board isn't toast. When I get home tonight, I'll try powering up everything together again, along with the USB, (which I believe I already tried)... fingers...

    Goodluckbuy 2-axis Gopro 3 brushless gimbal tutorial/review

Re: Goodluckbuy 2-axis Gopro 3 brushless gimbal tutorial/rev Hi, I just got my martinez gimbal setup, and I can't get it to turn on, when I try using the 12v aux line. When I plug the usb in, my pc recognizes it and the blue light comes on (although the gimbal does not do anything - i can...

Did you figure it out? I just got the fg-ph3 and I am thinking of using Alexmos as well, but I'm a bit hesitant. Was it the props?
