Do yourself a favour and practice with something in your living room, or on your backyard, like a nano QX or X100. It is cheaper than a simulator and you will have a lot of fun -besides improving dramatically your skills. Flying a DJI in Atti mode is an essencial skill to master.

From your signature John, you are using a RC-GL300C controller on P4, and a RC-GL300A on your 3P. That's probably the reason you have better reception with 3P. But if you buy now a 3P, it comes with the same RC as P4 (GL300C). Check here and in other threads:
