Is there a way to shut the controller up?

Depending on your skill set, you might be able to swap out the speaker for the tiny vibrator used to get a tactile shake on cell phones and the like. It is also remotely possible, looking at the picture above, that you could modify the speaker to do that by pushing something like a bit of...

HELP...... DJI GOGGLES WITH PHANTOM 4 PRO V2.0

IIRC (and it's been a while) - the OLD goggles and the P4PV2 aren't compatible except via HDMI cable. There is a NEW version of the googles that works with NEW Phantom. Typical DJI. I just use the HDMI cable since I'm always using a screen as backup.

New product to verify VLOS operations

If you leave the battery out, you're pretty certain to remain in VLOS.

DJI will be adding airplane & helicopter detectors to drones in 2020

No altitude? How is that useful? Does the distance measurement include vertical distance? Or just horizontal? I don't care about the 737 directly overhead at 15000 feet. (The video didn't help much - couldn't read the screen.)

Using rainx on drone as water repellent

This subject again.... The Phantom class UAVs are remarkably water resistant. Flying in any sensible precipitation won't hurt them. With or without extra coverings. Dry the thing off carefully and let it sit in a low humidity environment. The camera is the big issue - a water drop on the...

DJI will be adding airplane & helicopter detectors to drones in 2020

Hopefully the software is better behaved then the geofencing code..... Nice idea. Hope it works out. DJI sometimes has better ideas than execution.

New DJI product coming May 15th

Why would DJI build a waterproof *camera*? They are perhaps half a dozen other similar cameras already in the market. I don't think anyone is making lots of money on them. A underwater UAV, OTOH, would be cool . I have an OpenROV, built from a kit - uses RC motors, just like the drones...

    Drone tornado footage 4/30/2019!

It's a small tornado, but a definite one. What really impresses me is how stable the drone is. There are birds being tossed about right in front of it. The drone is pretty close at times, certainly within significant winds. I guess I'm not too worried about technically being too close to...

    filter adjustment or automatic?

No filters. Consider taking the little scratchy plastic lens protector off. At least look at it carefully. At best it does absolutely nothing except protect the lens from errant insects in flight. At worst it will lower contrast and create reflections. If I am flying anywhere near the sun...

    Filters

You can safely ignore them UNLESS you are trying to get a classic cinematographic look. In that instance you want to shoot with a shutter speed of about 2x the frame rate. In classic cinematography that's 24 FPS so you want to shoot a about 1/50 second. So you have only a few options to do...

    Emergency flotation bladder

Aerodynamics would be messed up as you note. You could also zip tie some pool noodle bits to the legs.

    Emergency flotation bladder

I bought a couple of Gettrbacks a while ago. Dunked one in water, waited overnight. Nothing happened. Dunked the other in the water. Waited overnight. Nothing happened. It was a nice idea but just doesn't seem to be reliable enough. Flying over water is a risk. So is flying around 200...

Cheap drone flies after a year in a tree.

Had a pair of somewhat similar experiences. Lost a MicroDrone in a hemlock tree. A really bushy, nasty hemlock tree. Wasn't worth it to try to retrieve it. A year or so later, the tree blows down and I retrieve the drone. Replace the battery, spray WD-40 on the motors and off it went...

    Wet suit for phantom

Oh, go on with it. Plenty of people have posted about your company. Before you start using the L word, you really had best have a nice, calm discussion with appropriately skilled and credentialed counsel of your choice. This *is* the Internet.

    Wet suit for phantom

Perhaps. I would definitely not suggest using WD 40 on a UAV motor exposed to dust, pollen and the other airborne impedimenta of daily life. I just use it on the submerged motors. Not much dust in the ocean. Then I flood the motors with silicone oil. Now, when I first got the OpenROV I...
