I said voltages. Not DJI's % capacity guess. Thats precisely the point I was making. Voltages dont lie. You do need to know a little about lipo's to interpret them (discharge curve, voltage sag under load,..) , but had you done that, you almost certainly wouldnt have been surprised.

DJI marketing really makes this confusing. The "active braking" setting in the app, mostly does whats been said a few times: giving thrust in the opposite direction to stop faster. Its how aggressive position hold works. That said, while I used to think the opposite, I have seen good evidence...

The TX battery tends to last a really long time to begin with. Something like 50 flight batteries. So even if the battery capacity was reduced by half or two thirds, you might not care or even notice if you only have a few flight batteries and frequently charge the tx along with the flight...

Ive seen the battery, its clearly marked as a regular 2S lithium polymer battery. Thats all I need to know. Storing lipo's fully charged long term is harmful for all of them.

What makes you say that? Its also a lipo battery, its not LifePo4 or ICR (Li-phosphate) as one might expect, so the same chemistry and principles apply. Storing fully charged for prolonged periods will affect the transmitter battery capacity just as well.

I agree it could be a concern. But then again, if DJI can tell from the logs, why cant they tell when you fly? They tried to disable third party batteries, but that no longer works (as in, third party batteries do work now with the latest firmware). More over, at least in the EU, consumer...

I have 3 of these clones now. I got mine from banggood, but they look and probably are identical to those linked on amazon. Im just gonna echo Digidat0; after ~30 or so flights between them, I can say they work just fine, identical to the OEM ones, with the sole exception of auto discharge...

You seem to live in a hot climate. I'd think twice before dying it black. It will get scorching hot in the sun, and that may well affect the plastic. OTOH, if it blocks UV, for all I know it might be a good thing for the shell, but Id still pick another color.

The rc control signal received by the phantom (and the strength of which is sent back as telemetry data) can realistically not be influenced by your phone at long range. Your phone is no different than 1000 other phones within the same range of the phantom. The telemetry signal and video feed...

Flying at top speed will not give you maximum range. If you're low on battery, you should fly slower, counter intuitive as that may seem (at high speed props and motor will not run at their optimal speeds, props will generate excessive drag,..) . Ive not seen any exhaustive or conclusive tests...

Its not gonna fly away. Or at least not very far :). I am curious how many volts they use to be able to use such long thin/light wire. Its something I might be tempted to try build myself.

that is pretty cool and I can see use cases for that. A shame though that you cant point the camera downwards when using it.

Have you tried another USB cable?

I may have to make a dummy load. I dont want the battery discharging when Im not home. Call me paranoid, Ive already been through a lipo fire once, that was enough.
