Gatwick airport closed due drone reported in area

It makes me furious that some unthinking people around the world will fly their drones in such dangerous, clearly restricted, areas. These ********* put all of us drone pilots, and the entire drone sUAS industry, in a bad light. And are the cause of growing, unneeded, restrictions. In America...

Phantom Rain - Why you should hand catch every single time you land your drone .

I don't understand hand catching other than for an emergency of some kind. I do not fly in "severe" weather unless for search & rescue. Coming back home I have to go around a catamaran mast with a flag on top, an elm tree, a palm tree, and over the rail on my deck. Lands like a butterfly's kiss...

Recreational drone now illegal in most of Canada...

This is what happens in nations which give all control to government and virtually no guarantees of freedom to citizens. It is what may be called a Dictatorship of the Bueaurocracy! Yes the Communist Democrats are trying to bring that about in America, too!

What were you like when you first flew?

I flew right seat (though not licensed) in younger years with pilot friends and in Civil Air Patrol. So I had time on the controls in manned light aircraft. I've "flown" MS Flight Sim regularly in every new version since 1995. So flying the drone seemed easy and normal. Experience has taught me...

US Army calls for ban on DJI equipment over security concerns

Effective Drone insurance is now commercially available. The larger question should be, do we totally throw away the astounding advantages of aircraft or other vehicles just because incidents happen? When we had only horses, incidents still happened often!

US Army calls for ban on DJI equipment over security concerns

DJI has done more to advance Drone security than any other Drone manufacturer. Worse, the Coast Guard and it's affiliated units have issued a "Cease and Desist order" which prevents any unit member from flying or touching a Drone, or even learning about Drone technology on military duty. The...

Recreational drone now illegal in most of Canada...

Also well said Andy-k. Even in our ultra individualistic USA, I cannot understand folks who insist on ignoring rules which are so obviously logical and designed for the protection of everyone involved! And, yes, of course, such an attitude is surely an invitation for the bureaucracy to add to...

Well said Mr. M3, much of what you say applies in our freedom loving USA.

Yes! We desperately need more Drone competition for more rapid development and more new ideas. Though I must say DJI does a wonderful job. The new LED screen which can be easily read in strong sunlight is a must for ALL drones. Makes them far more usable and safer.

    Beautifully said, my friend!

Got my 1st taste of Drone hate...

Yes. It is terrible what some, perhaps many, poorly informed people are trying to do to the enormously important development of Drone technology. Thousands of us are flying and learning. Most will just have fun, but with good sense and consideration of our neighbors. A few will develop vital new...

Recreational drone now illegal in most of Canada...

In America, the new FAA rules require all Drones to have a Registration number on them. Since all must be registered, the name and location of the owner is always available in the records of registration. That should furnish all information needed to address any situation. America's new FAA...
