    X1 Not Calibrating

That was exactly my problem. The firmware of the REMOTE (NOT the quadcopter) needs to be updated to turn on the X1 channel. (It's off by default in the v1.1 remotes.) You're connecting the PHANTOM/NAZA to the laptop using the NAZA ASSISTANT (NA). That's where you're not seeing any movement...

Looks like a good time...until you get stuck and have to dig it out.

    New Gimbal - Playing Around

Hung out with a couple of buddies, one of whom hadn't seen the Phantom. The first part of the video is dumb...it was more in response to my buddy's question, "How high can it go?" Then my other friend grabbed his long board and I was playing around with controlling the quad for various shots...

    X1 Not Calibrating

You know how for the Phantom you go to the DJI site and download the NAZA Assistant? Well, if you go to http://www.dji.com/download/phantom-2-downloads/ which is the DJI support/downloads section for the Phantom 2, there is something called "Phantom RC Assistant Software". It's like the NAZA...

    X1 Not Calibrating

Got it! I had to calibrate X1 using the RC Assistant, THEN calibrate X1 for the NAZA. Hope that helps anyone who's had the same problem.

    X1 Not Calibrating

Trying to add a gimbal pitch control lever to my 1.1.1 Phantom RC Tx. At first the X1 was completely dead. I turned on the Gimbal control in the Naza Assistant, then moved the pot (the turny thing in the Tx) back and forth and the Naza wasn't registering it. After some Googling, I found...

Physically Setting Pitch on Goodlucksell Gimbal?

Hey...thanks, but that video is still about connecting the gimbal to a signal that controls the pitch. I don't have a receiver, and as I said, I think there's a way to physically (manually, not electronically) set the camera to point down just a bit. That's the solution I'm hoping to find. Or...

Physically Setting Pitch on Goodlucksell Gimbal?

My Goodluckysell gimbal arrived today. Woot! So easy to install, so smooth...can't wait for the snow to stop so I can do my first test. Here's my dilemma: I don't have either a pitch lever or receiver. I'm kinda at the mercy of the default level setting. That's fine, but it seems to me I...

    A trip through "The fog"

I have been wanting to do a shot like that. One question I have is how to know how 'thick' the cloud layer is. How do you know it's going to pop out on top vs sitting in the middle of a very deep, thick cloud bank?

    Stedi-cam mount?

I did, indeed, check Google, but alas, I was searching for the wrong thing. Looking for 'steadi cam' and 'steady cam' and 'stabilizer', etc., turned up many things, none of which were the things I was looking for. I didn't realize that a 'Gimbal' was the right term. Like I said, I thought...

    Stedi-cam mount?

So... Maybe I'm wrong, but the Zenmuse doesn't really act like a steadi-cam. That just allows pivoting of the cam on two different axes, controlled by a remote, right? Am I missing something about the Zenmuse? True, it's got dampeners which will remove some of the vibration (gelling), but...

    Stedi-cam mount?

I'm thinking that I'd like some kind of steadi-cam under my Phantom to hang my GoPro. I know that most stedi-cams are designed to smooth out transitions when walking, etc., for hand-held work. I took some video today and it was breezier than I'd like, so even though I was simply hovering at...

    best software for gopro editing?

I'd like to hear the answer to this. I've been using Premiere Elements 11 to edit straight out of the GoPro (Hero3 Silver) and the quality of the videos is meh. I heard today that it might be better to run through Cineform Studio first... ...but I'm not sure the "process" for getting it...

    Calibration

As the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." You're having success with what you're doing. Keep doing it. Who cares if it's 'overkill' to compass dance every time. It takes, what, 7 or 8 seconds each time you connect the battery? Upside reward vs. downside risk. Save 7 seconds...
