    First crashproof drone

Sorry not enough explain. I meant, branch or stick shaped thing will brake in if we're unlucky. Another solution is mesh propeller guard (sorry I miss the link to the prototype of the product), which may decrease aerodynamic force, however.

    Poor night shoots (II)

I love Silkypix RAW現像ソフト SILKYPIX for noise reduction. As a development software, not a best selection however. And sorry if not internationalized...

    Poor night shoots (II)

Slight blur seems like defocus or unsharp picture. You can experience it by comparing handhold & tripod fixed cameras with low shutter speed. P3 stands still great while holding in no/small wind, but @Copperlanding, didn't you run P3 while shooting?

Too weak for slap... and what's branch of tree?

    Lifetime of props?

Hmm, my 20 hours maybe too short, I agree. :-) Maybe 200 hours, but I don't think that's 2000 hours (1000 hours is continuous 40 days flow of Phantom, or 3000 times change of battery!!). IMO the reason that DJI tech cannot tell the lifetime is, not they did 1000 hours of running test but don't...

    Lifetime of props?

N017RW, You may misunderstand the unit... My "20 hours" is counted by the flight record, actual running time of props. The reason I think I must change is, because DJI 2312 motor is 960KV, that means props rotate over 14000rpm on 14.8V maximum. Say average rotation be 50% of that, 7000rpm...

    Lifetime of props?

P.S. I personally defined hours to change "healthy" set of props by maintenance for 20 hours. After 10 hours of flight (no crash), props obviously seems dirty by mud or insects' blood. 20 hours is about 6-12 month for my flight frequency, and $40 (2 sets of 2 props) for 20 hours is not...

    Lifetime of props?

Sorry I was away since last post. 1 month ago, I've received an answer from DJI support about lifetime of props. I asked two questions, (1) lifetime of props without accident, (2) criteria of exchanging props when hit something. The answer was only (1) - directly translate from Japanese...

    Lifetime of props?

I asked to DJI support, took 5 days and they only replied "ask again in Japanese"...??? (I sent through dji.com) Will take more few days for public answer. -- Carbon props... I've been using 3rd party carbon made props on P2, felt it's solid (tight) to operation but has more vibrations...

    Lifetime of props?

So we're going to write log in this thread "XXX hours but still OK," or "XXX hours, suddenly broken without crack"... then we can know threshold? ;-) Kidding. I'll ask DJI support tomorrow. Have anyone did same question and got public answer?

    Gimbal wheel control altitude?

I've ever seen an electronic modification work of gimbal wheel on P2 controller... but P3 controller is too expensive, even to open. :-)

Updated to 1.4, do I calibrate IMU and compass?

Actually, I sometimes build and adjusts helicopters of which IMU are not black boxes ;-), and I think I know how mag compass & IMU works. P3 maybe different from them, but I can estimate. As a result, I don't think we need IMU calib until character of sensors change - but firmware version up...

    Lifetime of props?

I've been flying P3 with 2 sets of props totally 10 hours, and worrying when to change. 1 set mowed grasses, once turned when takeoff (rapid CSC stop saved), and 1 set never hits anything... but sometimes mince insects, also few hours x 10,000rpm of centrifugal force will wear them, I think...

Updated to 1.4, do I calibrate IMU and compass?

Agree. I've ever did IMU calib only once when VPS become unstable. Even I didn't do compass calibration after 4000km of moving, but after I flew near strong magnetic field.

    flying in japan, recommendations?

Around the exit of Tokyo Bay, Uraga Suido, both west side (Yokosuka) and east (Chiba) seaside is beautiful. Yokosuka is 1 hour by Keikyu train from Tokyo, Kisaradu/Futtsu/Kanaya is 1-1.5 hours from Tokyo station or Haneda Airport by bus (Yokosuka-Kanaya is 30 min by ferry). But be careful, bus...
