You did't say if you were streaming video but I'm assuming you were since you mentioned the iPhone. I know with the Phantom one like I have, you're not supposed to stream video or use the remote control for the GoPro because it will interfere with the 2.4 ghz tx signal; and that sounds like...

I've looked at the frame and it doesnt seem to be in contact with the motors; and if that were the problem, I wouldn't think it would work well for a few minutes and suddenly start acting up. Thanks; Steve

I dont know but I'm sure there was a reason for having different configurations. That was the problem though.

Found my problem! When I was testing the motors I must have inadvertently set the configuration to Quad-Motor I instead of Quad-Motor X. Reset it and now all is well. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm wondering if the compass was damaged in the crash; like I said, I've calibrated it. Does using manual mode bypass the compass?

I only have one hardware nut and the rest are the regular nuts that came with the copter. The props are new. How would I determine if it's a motor issue?

I crashed my Phantom a few days ago, it lost a prop and the crash messed up the ESC for the M1 motor. I replaced the ESC and everything appears to work but I'm still waiting on a nut for one prop. It was the clockwise nut so I bought some generic nuts at the hardware store just to test it out...

If I understand you correctly you still have a ESC that works but is the wrong color. I would re install that one and if it works then I would ship the new ESC back. I'm new to this and I'm waiting on a new motor and ESC to repair mine after a prop came off at 150 feet and it crashed.

I ordered a new esc and motor, hopefully that will get me flying again.
