I heard late yesterday from one of the top online UAV Ground Schools the following schedule for approving airspace authorization. If this is true, it my be a little while before we can fly for profit... I'm hoping airspace authorization request turn-arounds are fairly quick once they decide to...
Update: 9/7 - My temporary certificate is now available on IACRA. FAA came through for me. 8/29 test -- 9/7 temporary cert, includes Labor Day holiday delay (not bad at all for Government).
I'm in the same boat. Passed the Test on Monday morning, did the IACRA Test Number lookup a zillion times until it finally found me on late Tuesday evening, and now I'm in the 4 day+ TSA holding pattern for the temp cert. Kinda odd however the electronic application has a check box checked as...
Took the test today too, and passed. It took less than 40 minutes to get through. As others here mentioned, it's not super easy, but not hard either. You've got to study and understand the material as outlined for Part 107.
AutomatelQ, I don't think folks are willing to pay much at this point, until it's proven your course material helped them pass the knowledge exam. In which case, after your course takers pass the first wave of exams, you can ask a decent amount as you can prove the value. For now, I'd either...
SweatpantsDroner, thanks for your quick reply and answer, that makes sense now that you've mentioned it. I thought the tower wrote up the NOTAM upon us contacting them. Didn't realize there was a filing process for NOTAM's. I'll stay tuned to learn more about this from your session. Also as a...
Have a question, may be it could be answered in the next session... Sorry if it's a bit off topic, just thinking SweatpantsDroner would know the answer, or if anyone else does? Assuming once licensed to fly a UAV commercially, what's the best practice for contacting a tower about a planned...
Thanks Much SweatpantsDroner, missed the first 32 minutes or so... i'm on PST. Hope to catch the next one in full. Very nice of you to be doing these! Keep it up.
Same luck here in calling around, I'm in the South Bay area, called several Torrance flight schools, they're not aware yet. I'm sure by August they will be. Best bet is to probably register with the providers of the testing service as mentioned in a previous thread. See CATS FAA test, Private...
Not trying to debate here... however, the part 61 Course / Test is good reference for those who are not part 61, note that the FAA site specifically states:
Others may take this course as a self-study resource, including:
Applicants for a part 107 remote pilot certificate who do not hold a...
Try a small suction cup on the glass of the lens, stick it to the filter's lens and then lightly twist the base of the suction cup. This works miracles as no pressure is being applied to the ring of the lenses filter.
I was having similar issues, I think my cable from the RC to the iPhone was causing it. Tried a few different USB / Firewire connector cords and it seemed to fix this issue. This was just before the latest firmware upgrade however.
