    Crash

OP, as a general heads-up, there are 101 ways your Phantom can die. Most of these can be resolved as and when they happen, if and when you recognize the symptoms. It's much much better to know of these symptoms before flying your Phantom than finding yourself in such a potentially calamitous...

    Take off with a twist.

Do the props whine for a split-second when the Phantom makes its jerk? My copter did this about 2 months ago. At each Tx input, the copter would do that quick twitch accompanied by a simultaneous prop whine for a slit second. This behavior started suddenly and ended just as suddenly that same...

Another one bites the dust - FOUND MY PROP - and other news

Re: Another one bites the dust I was thinking recently that the number of Phantoms lost appeared to be tapering off. But the past week or so it's deja-vu all over again. Meanwhile, one of my batteries has been popping an "invalid battery" alert, even though I got all my batteries direct from...

Battery goes from 31% to 15 to 9,8,7 in less than 10 seconds

Re: Battery goes from 31% to 15 to 9,8,7 in less than 10 sec Last time I saw this was when flying with a mate and his copter went from fully charged to red blinking LEDs in 20 seconds flat. Turned out the battery was puffing. He tossed it and got a new one.

    Course lock wouldn't work

You did set CL before using it, correct? I.e. you made sure that the new forward was set as the new forward by flicking the switch up and down 5 times, which then is confirmed with the Phantom's green LEDs blinking. All that was checked, correct? If CL doesn't work after all that, then, yeah...

    Altitude again...

The display on my Garmin GPS unit shows not just the number of satellites, but also the degree of connection, i.e. whether it's a solid hook-up or a barely-there one. Satellites close to the horizon tend to have iffy signals. Solar issues and weather also may have an effect. IOW, the number of...

Disaster struck today - drone fell from sky

I wonder how much weight a parachute system would be if you make it as light as you can get way with. Are we talking 30g, 50g, or perhaps 100g? It wouldn't have to be pretty, durable or reusable. Something Getterback-ish would be good enough. The Phantom doesn't have to remain unscathed - the...

    backflip on startup

Do a "mode" check. Wouldn't be the first time the mode has somehow switched. Also, next test, have the copter held with both hands, outstretched arms held high, by a friend, preferably a fellow Phantom pilot. He'll be able to tell from the torque if the copter is firing all 4 motors correctly.

    Phantom Case Reviews?

Just as a general note, for the benefit of those who are sitting on the fence over this, let me add that I think that all cases that allow for drones to be packed props-on are a remnant from the time that props had to be bolted on and off. It can be argued that not having to do this over and...

    Gimbal noise?

I hear it too, a sort of a hissing sound. Been getting it from day 1 and my gimbal works a charm, so no worries eh.

S2 switch on the way out?

I don't. But I like to. To make sure I have HL, I force one just after take off, whether I already have one or not. That way, I can be sure I have HL, which, typically, will be higher than an auto-generated one. Other times, I may walk around a bit, so then I want to update my HL. Prefer...

    First time flying over water

Ya, well done. Thanks for putting it up. Can you tell us your settings? Did you record at 1080 or 720? FPS? Youyube shows the maximum is 720. Is that your selection? Would be good to be able to tie your settings with the type of output seen. Cheers.

Best single item to protect the gimble?

Well, that's true for the most part; we're all here to get information and basically have fun with our Phantom. That being said, gimbal/camera protection-wise, lately, I've been reading quite a few posts that strayed into negative marketing, rather than being informative, where DjiPhantomfix...

S2 switch on the way out?

Good one, happydays. Hooked it up to the Assistant's switches section and you can clearly see there's a loose connection there. Flicking it down, it will connect for a millisecond only. Put some pressure on the switch and the connection is back. Ergo: loose switch. Cheers.
