    Basic Camera Setting

In my experience, aperture is best set to f/4 (and if it is dark, f/2.8). In most situations the drone is at optical infinity from the (landscape) subject and f/4 provides more than sufficient depth of field. If you are shooting special subjects that are closer/larger, then yes you can close...

Who will be the last P4P pilot?

Still using P4P v2 in Iceland and have been for the past 5 years. For still image quality it is as good as the latest offerings by DJI. It is clear that the Phantom line is dead. Portability is an issue but I intend to keep my P4P until such time as DJI comes up with a camera system that is...

    Planet Iceland

Thank you, Andy. The little dome is a cover for a borehole. This is a volcanic, geo-thermally active area. The filming was done in overcast conditions with reduced light but the effect you see in the photos and videos was achieved via colour grading. It is not entirely fantasy though. During...

    Phantom 4 Pro V1 vs V2 range

I don't have anything specific to say about the range since I usually don't fly beyond 1 Kms or outside line of sight. The differences between the 2 are subtle but noticeable. They aren't of the "V2 blows V1 out of the water" type. V2 feels much more responsive, the controller connection is...

    Einhyrningur - Highlands of Iceland

Very good catch! You're right, it is a deserted area (the Highlands are uninhabited) but the old rough track that runs by the mountain is a gateway to the southern Highlands and there will be the very occasional vehicle. The remains of an old farm with a lone house are also seen.

    Einhyrningur - Highlands of Iceland

Thank you. Yes, the landscapes in Iceland are primal and the absence of trees give them an alien feel.

    Syðra Fjallabak: Axlafoss

What gets you in Iceland is not the wind, per se, but the gusts that can far exceed the average wind speed. And they can come out of nowhere. Often I have had trouble just getting the Phantom off the ground but it is impressive just how tough this bird is.
