I agree there are a lot of them crashed due to pilot error. Just saying that isn't the only cause, and while I have no proof, I don't think it is a statistically insignificant number that crash not due to pilot error.
I think the issue has to be in the code somewhere. When my v3.0 (factory, not upgraded) did it's 90 degree flip and crash, I pulled it apart to dry it before I sent it back in. I unscrewed the esc's to allow for more airflow to dry it out, and I don't recall seeing any issues with the wires...
That sucks for the reseller, and makes me feel a little bad. Not bad enough to eat $1300 worth of a flying turd, but bad. Mine was purchased through kellards and I hope that they are able to get their money from DJI. On another note, other than the props being broke, mine was still in working...
I did the same thing. The phantom took a mind of its own and did a roll 90 degrees to the right and smashed its self into the ground. Nothing I did caused it, and nothing I could have done would have prevented it. I consider that a defect and sent it back to Amazon. I hope that DJI has to eat...
If anyone wants to buy my license for RaceRender 3 Ultimate I am going to sell it since I no longer have my phantom. $40 and it is yours. Once the money hits my paypal account I will forward you the licensing information.

I had both the camera guard, and the inertia guard on during my recent crash. Wasn't a bad crash, but the camera made it out fine. They are currently for sale in the classifieds section since I decided to get rid of the phantom.
Re: Another one bites the dust
Mine was a factory v3.0 and it did the immediate roll to the right 90 degrees and slammed to the ground. Thankfully I am still within the 30 days return period from Amazon and I am returning it.
Re: Please Help Quad Destroid
That sucks. Sounds very similar to what happened to me except I was 5feet off the ground instead of 200. Best of luck figuring out what happen.
I actually took off from there, but had switched on the phantom in the parking lot. That is why the flytrex shows it taking off in the parking lot. There is a row of trees between the parking lot and the creek.
