IMHO even the 2 reasons you stated are also DIRECTLY user controlled. If already moderately windy,expect greater winds at higher elevations. If magnetically distortions, move to another launch location to solve that issue! We have all read what can occur when taking off in such distorted fields...
IF you haven’t flown in “Atti” mode prior ,don’t even attempt it in your first night flight!! But even then you can’t have a good enough visual to know what the bird is doing to fly in “Atti” mode, so I would say stay in “P” mode.
Pretty sure that is a remote controlled engine for the "humping" yard. Its controlled from the tower of the Hump yard. Answer was from cousin who works for N&S Railroad in Ohio.
I still haven’t purchased these yet, for the question still not being answered by anyone that has them. A video and some pics of them operating at night , and mounting locations would be most helpful. Only issue I can think of by mounting them on back out of camera view is... you will be able to...
