    At one time I thought about having one for backpacking. However, since there are virtually no cell towers in remote mountainous areas, many backpackers make do with legally carried firearms and filing trip plans with the park Rangers.

    Yep! I hate the idea of carrying around a phone and I won't pay $100/month for something I will turn off and leave in a drawer for months at a time.     Hi! Thanks for the reply. I looked at the Vision+ and I really prefer the Hero4 camera. I also do not own a cellphone and don't really want one. That is why I was looking at my Ipad. If I could locate the hybrid system you mention and maybe buy a smartphone with no service to serve as a monitor...
