I have several friends who work for Flightsafety Boeing, or are flight safety engineers at Boeing. THEY ALL SAY THE SAME THING: The number one skill to develop in aviation is "judgement" and judgement can NOT be taught. This is why aviation accident rates plummet after a pilot reaches 500 hours...
I hope this isn't a dumb question. But isn't Part 107 for commercial operators only? And if someone creates a real estate video for free, then doesn't the Part 107 requirement go away?
An extension of this question is what if the real-estate agent does it himself? Is it considered a commercial...
So I'm confused. I have a DJI Phantom 4 Pro Plus with a built-in (permanently attached) monitor on the controller. I purchased it in July 2017. Is my built-in monitor considered to be the "crystalsky" product? Does this new Litchi capability apply to my drone?
Any high-visibility vest will totally diffuse this situation. And if you look closely, you can determine which high-vis vests are used by your local utility. When people think you work for a utility, they don't bother you.
I'm getting calls from police departments wanting to know more about how drones can be used for law enforcement:
Police departments are using drones to find and chase down suspects
The Hi-Vis vest works perfectly for me too. I fly my drone (for photography) all over the city and the only question I get is:
"when did the local utility start using aerial inspection?" People assume I work for the city or the utility or some government agency. And then they relax.
Here in Seattle at FlightSafety-Boeing, and also in all military flight training facilities, the flight time required before a pilot is considered "experienced" is 500 hours. At 500 hours of experience and above, accident rates drop to nearly zero. Many attempts have been made to lower that...
Whoa!! Hold the phone there. I have almost 500 hours of flight time in a foot-launched ultralight (a.k.a. a hang glider) and I can tell you absolutely you are required to have a license, and there are just as many restrictions. The difference is the FAA decided to let non-profit, national...
I see news articles occasionally about land owners calling the police when a drone flies over "private property.” Yet no one seems to call the police when United Airlines flies over private property.
Is there a limit to private property ownership in the Z-axis (measured in feet)? If so...
I think religious holidays should be outlawed. Religion has been the cause of most wars and has killed millions of people. Let's dump christmas, easter, and st. what-the-hell's day.
For DJI enthusiasts near Seattle:

I think the best things in life happen when you're not trying.
I used my Phantom to capture video of a sustainable, solar-powered building in Seattle and posted it to Vimeo. Next thing I know, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) contacts me and asks if they can use my video in their...
I just realized this is a P3 forum. My purchase from jet was for a phantom 2 battery because I own and fly a phantom 2 vision+. sorry if this is out of place.
