Maybe I'm being unreasonable but $100 for Ping still seems unnecessarily pricey.
There are many decent 2g based trackers out there for $20-$40... Why can't someone swap in 3G friendly hardware and keep selling those 'simple' versions for that same cheap price?
Ping looks wonderful and higher...
Thanks, I saw that but the poster was from Australia so I assumed 2G must still work there?
I have questions but i'll go post it in that thread I guess rather than create two forks to the same concept. Thanks.
Why can't I find a simple GPS tracker that will work in the US for under $100?
Every time I sit down and say "ok, today I will order a tracker"... Two hours of research later and I'm more confused than ever. And wait another month before trying again. Help!
Seems like there are many trackers...
Also, check out the Litchi app. It is a 3rd party app that let's you do a lot of powerful things as well as automate your flights and shots.
Certainly not a replacement for first learning how to fly smoothly and safely by hand. But I'd suggest putting that on your "to learn" to do list as...
I have a P3S and thus, the boring controller, but would love to still use custom buttons. For example, I use Litchi app and want to be able to mark the current aircraft location as a waypoint for a mission, which you can bind C1 to do... But I don't have a C1.
Is there another way to mark...
I was about to get Trackimo but read on the Trackimo specs page that it uses 2g, not 3g.... so isn't it just as likely to be shut down with everything else since the carriers are phasing out 2g? I see ATT is shutting down 2g starting in Jan 2017.
I'm so confused about this tracker situation.
OP here here. Well, I can't believe it, but after letting the drone thaw out I tested it this morning and everything still works great. Didn't even have to re-calibrate the IMU or anything.
These things are hearty! Well done DJI. Well done.
Thanks everyone for being a part of my saga...
Holy Phantom Drone Gods, I found it!
Thank you EVERYONE for the help. And Meta4 you were right on the nose for the flight path, it apparently didn't get blown as far as I feared.
It was right in the middle of the fairway, not even stuck in a tree. It was hard to spot a white Phantom in the...
Thank you so very much. I'll give it a shot and report back if by some miracle I find it.
Thanks for the advice as well. Hopefully next time I'll be more prepared.
The real question is - do I take this as a sign from the Drone Gods I should use this as an excuse to upgrade to the Mavic Pro? Or...
Thanks, but the problem I am facing is it was still hovering 250 ft in the air, trying to fly back against the wind but failing when it lost contact and just kept drifting away with still 50% battery life.
So as best as I could tell, it didn't crash right at the point of lost signal (the last...
But the drone was still at about 50% battery by the time it was over the golf course at about 250ft and was still hovering just fine, just couldn't fly against the wind at all. So I assume it continued to hover in the air for another mile (or whatever) until the battery started to die and it...
I was flying my Phantom Standard 3 and it got too high where suddenly winds started pushing it away. I hit RTH, which made it climb higher and by the time I realized it would be smart to just land rather than RTH, it was out of range of my controller so I just watched it drift off into the...
