Are you sure it is the controller? When you bind the new controller do the red light go out on the receiver board?
It is not plug and play, you must bind the controller with the phantom.

Try the improve gps for vision , i used several layers of tinfoil between tape against short circuit and did not lose any satellites with filming after that

And you can check if the gps board get power ( voltage )
put needles beside the wires and check with the voltmeter or there is power
I got this result
red - brown 5.50 volt
red - yellow 1 2.47 volt
red - yellow 2 2.35 volt
yellow 1 - yellow 2...
you can not check the board , only the wires.
the only way to check the board is to connect it to another naza.

the white stuff on the end of the wires is a sort kind of glue, you have to remove it carefully then you can use the multimeter to check the resistance of the wires

i have unplugged the complete gps print on one of my phantoms and then i get a yellow flash every 3 seconds.
so there is no communication between your gps print and naza.module.
So it is not your compass causing this.

did you connect the cable from the receiver print good ( right port ,upside down) in the naza module?
try to bind the phantom and the controller again.
and did you use paint without lead in it? or else you get gps...
