I routinely use PS Elements (Mac) for stitching, both RAW and jpeg and it very rarely lets me down. On a few occasions it's also stitched images accurately that Lightroom baulked at. PSE is my go-to.
I use a synthetic carpet square (approx 0.5 metres) I bought for a few dollars at the local hardware store. It has a rubberised base about 4 mm thick - this is heavy enough for it to stay in place, but light enough to carry easily. Flexible and water-proof with a small choice of colours.

Hi all, a bit late to the party - only just discovered this thread. I'm based in Newcastle on the NSW central coast. Heaps of restricted air around here but I take my Phantom 3A bush when I get the chance.
