Loving how this thread sputters rhetorically back to life every few days with people comparing the Mavic video to various vegetables!I'm impressed and have placed my order from Heliguy in the UK.
Watch out for this guy on Youtube - Epic Drone World who has put the word Mavic in his 4K video...
Well an orthographic view (top down) of a 3D model is effectively a plan view. You could import this into a CAD or GIS package (try Global Mapper) and trace 2D features in plan view. Be warned however that the accuracy is only as good as the onboard GPS, so don't expect better than 3-5...
I've just sold my P3P. It was a great piece of kit and still is, but I missed a ton of opportunities and left it on the shelf because of portability. I'd have loved to use it for mountain biking, snowboarding, climbing etc but it was just a bag of kit too far to lug around.
I have an Inspire 1...
Agree there - if the frequency of great shots goes up simply by being there at the right time with the right drone the. That will outweigh not getting the shot at all versus lower IQ if that in fact the case...

I had a look at these in Lightroom. I compared the JPEGS of the P4 and Mavic and did not like the image quality of the Mavic.
The Mavic pro is on the right and seems to have worse dynamic range than the P4. For example, look at the sky, clouds and also the wood grain on the building. Also, the...
I think so too. Why on earth would anyone want to reduce the optical quality of the camera by keeping it behind a plastic dome? This excellent review also shows a comparison with (left) and without (right) the dome:
I too have found the image quality to be less than desirable. Added to this, the DJI platforms use rolling shutters which is one of the big things to avoid when doing high resolution or detailed photogrammetry, which is why for serious jobs we use the Falcon 8.
But I read this notice on the Autopilot Autoflight website (http://autoflightlogic.com/beta/autopilotdji)
"Update: DJI has confirmed that the recently released firmware does not support the SDK, even though the release notes claim that it does. Do not update your firmware if you are...
Here is some footage from beautiful Pembrokeshire in West Wales from the last weekend. It was very windy (hence one or two alarming jumps in and rotors in shot), but despite this the P3P did it's usual thing of never failing to impress how it handles being blown around yet delivering rock steady...
Thanks! I just edited in some more footage that I missed the first time around. Makes you realise how lucky the opportunities rendered by a few days of calm weather give to flying compared to the days since that visit..
