Phantom 4 Pro V2 is now RID compliant

Just adding a note re. the FAA's listing of serial numbers for Phantom 4 Pro v2 ... On looking closely at the FAA's Phantom page and comparing with similar pages for other models, I totally agree that they are providing a range of serial numbers that are valid; they're just showing it in a...

Flight controller. It's displayed in the 'About' section of the Go 4 app.

Phantom 4 Pro V2 is now RID compliant

I emailed DJI about this, and their response was "About this issue, we are preparing to submit the related files to the FAA. The specific date is not clear."

You might want to give it another try. I had to do a couple of flights before I started to see the RID transmission - and it only worked with actual flights outdoors, not when I ran the motors without props indoors.

Basically the drone creates a remote ID number based on the 14-digit serial number of the flight controller, by adding additional characters before and after the serial number to make a 20-digit remote ID. You will need to register this number on the FAA dronezone website. Go backward through...

Phantom 4 Pro V2 is now RID compliant

Very interesting! I was wondering about that, and why the P4P v2 wasn't included in the compliant models list. Sounds like it's up to DJI to make the submission to the FAA and get it approved. Hopefully they will do this before the March deadline ... So really it's 'not our problem' in a way -...

Phantom 4 Pro V2 is now RID compliant

According to the FAA, for a Standard Remote ID drone (which the Phantom 4 Pro v2 apparently is): Drone Remote Identification Remote ID capability is built into the drone From takeoff to shutdown, drone broadcasts: Drone ID (Remote ID-compliant serial number) Drone location and altitude Drone...

Phantom 4 Pro V2 is now RID compliant

Finally, success!! I've been (maybe stupidly) doing my testing up to now inside my house, with the props off the drone, just firing up the motors when needed. Today I took the drone outside to make some actual test flights. Turns out that makes a big difference. First thing I saw in Go 4 was...

Phantom 4 Pro V2 is now RID compliant

I think they've never bothered to update the firmware update instructions for Go 4 / Phantom users - all the notes and screenshots on that page refer to other apps like DJI Fly, DJI Pilot etc. Maybe they'll update the instructions at some point, but it would have been nice if they had added some...

Phantom 4 Pro V2 is now RID compliant

SO, I have tried multiple times scanning for a wifi signal with the motors running and have not seen any wifi network that starts with RID. BUT - I have not tried re-registering the drone entirely with the FAA; I just modified my existing registration to add the RID number. I guess I will try a...

Phantom 4 Pro V2 is now RID compliant

It also does bother me that the Phantom 4 Pro v2 is not listed in the FAA compliant drones list (UAS Declaration of Compliance), which DJI themselves refer to several times during their documentation. Maybe the FAA just hasn't caught up yet with the fact that the new firmware has been released...

Phantom 4 Pro V2 is now RID compliant

After going in detail through DJI's help documentation at User Guide for FAA Remote ID Compliance, I think that the screenshot she showed me was actually from DJI Fly, not DJI Go 4. It also looks like most of what she told me during the chat session was cut and pasted directly from this support...

Phantom 4 Pro V2 is now RID compliant

One more thing that might be an important detail: DJI specifically told me the serial number to use to generate the RID (using 1581F + 14-digit serial number + 0) is the FLIGHT CONTROLLER serial number, NOT the DRONE serial number. During the chat they told me "the flight controller serial...
