LMAO some of these replies and the original post have me laughing. You all act like you started out being pros at flying your phantom. Maybe instead of stepping in trying to be a hard *** when you see people doing something wrong how about you try being helpful? It does sound like the OP did...
I'd definitely send it in for repair. When that motor is revving up and down it flexes in different directions causing the crack to get bigger and the motor could rub on the side, like mine did. Now I am replacing a motor and a shell.
Thank you. When I start putting everything back together I will be sure to have youtube open to follow along. It was a nice learning experience taking it apart.
Thanks everyone. I should have my new body here in a few days and I will just take my time and make sure I get everything back in its correct spot so I don't have to take it apart again. I also ordered a replacement motor for the one that had the melting issues. I did not put lock-tite on...
just concerned getting them connected back to the electrical board in the right order. I wrote down the order but with all the wires that need to be reconnected it just seems like a lot of connections to keep track of. I did take pictures along the way.
I thought I broke the body of the P3 from a blade hitting a go pro but after getting it taken apart I see the mounts where the motor goes is all melted. So my guess is I am going to have to replace this motor? Taking it apart to replace the shell is a pain and I am a bit worried about getting it...
So now after looking through parts can someone tell me where to get the new upgraded body that has more reinforcement around the motor housing? Thank you.
I am looking for the lower body part for a phantom 3. If you have one or know a good place to get one reasonable please post it here. I see amazon has them for $60 just didn't know if that was the best price I can find.
Thanks.
It was actually the first gopro style camera they came out with so by far the heaviest of all gopros. I don't see any need to attach another camera to phantom I just got it in my head that it might be cool. Didn't turn out so good! lol.
I just weighed it and it is 8.15 oz.
well we all know how the old saying goes. Play stupid games win stupid prizes
after further inspection and wondering why the phantom was making so much noise while flying, after taking the go pro off, this is what I noticed. This is one of the motor housings on the blade that hit the go pro
It's at about 40 seconds when things get bad. At the end I did not crash the phantom the gopro just popped off. The whole clip let loose. Then two blades hit the gopro and broke.
Funny I just did this today. I used one of the curved mounting pads that came with the gopro. I knew I'd get signal inference but a soon as I took off I got a motor overload message. Of course I kept flying then it started to land on its own and I couldn't stop it from going down so I moved it...
