I have an alternate suggestion. Setup near a signal, such as a crossing. The lights go on quite awhile before the train is close.

When it comes to batteries I do not scrimp. They are the life blood of my drone and I am concerned about the battery dieing while in flight.,

It was a TFR so the kid (praents) are going to have some real problems.

After seeing some idiot fly Fenway Park the other night I am glad that this is available. That type of flying when there is a TFR gives those who follow the law a bad name.

9.7 it has plenty of room around the edges for the info such as distance, etc. and then easily seen view of what camera is seeing.

Had a cold weather issue once and had to warm up the batteries. Worked fine then. So KEEP THE BATTERIES WARM.

Flew mine once in fog. No problems since or during flight and fog was very dense. Guess I was lucky.

OEM and they are working just fine. I have flown off of a steep hill to below takeoff point for a company that wanted photos of the work from all angles. It was fun. The pic I posted is a volunteer thing I am doing.

I am taking stills on a regular basis and they are very clear. I am taking them from below ground level to 400' and am very pleased with the results.

I did that a couple of times when I first got mine. After dozens of flights still no problems. I did however create a VERY thorough CHECKLIST.

I have a P4P check list and in the top four items is ++++++ check that the battery is solidly connected in the aircraft == I make sure that the clicks are LOUD AND CLEAR.

Make sure your connections are clean and maybe try different wires, but it does sound as if you are off and running.
