I have been out for a while and now I am back and need to order some batteries. My OEM was garbage. Both went bad simultaneously. What makes these different?

Everywhere! I have been flying everywhere. Getting downtown Dallas footage, wide open areas where there is no wifi interference for long range flying etc...

I have a Note 3 and wifi kept disconnecting. I-phone 4= crap, Galaxy 3 = pretty decent, Just bought Nexus 7 2013 = superb!

The same happens to me. I keep mine on a charger 24/7 just in case I get a spontaneous urge to fly . I will invest in a battery back up charger to use during flight.
