Announcing Qimage Ultimate for your raw photos (PC/Windows)

Figured it was time to bump this to keep people in the loop and allow people who are interested to get the Phantom Pilots special offer. Hope to hear from members who have any questions or suggestions. Regards, Mike

    First serious crash

I'd say start with the shell if you think all the innards are intact. But definitely replace all the props. I wouldn't trust props after a crash: they could be weakened at points you can't see! Mike

    Video Mbps and Size

Video at the same bit rate but half the FPS should have lower compression. So if you shoot 40 Mbps at 30 FPS, each frame should have fewer compression artifacts (more detail) than the same bit rate at 60 FPS. But both files would take up the same space. Mike

    Slow right rotation in flight

Sounds like that is what is happening. In Atti mode, your direction is dictated by the sticks plus wind direction. Once GPS is activated, it takes the wind out of the equation and that results in a different bearing. Might be what is happening in the OP. Mike

Options for getting out of tree

This is exactly the method I use. Fortunately I haven't gotten my P3P stuck in a tree yet, but I've used that to salvage the neighbor's toy drones. Mike

    Flying in lightning?!

Like others suggest, I'd stay at least a mile away. Often you get better lightning shots from a distance anyway. And you won't need a direct strike to knock out some electronics. Lightning bolts carry EMP's strong enough to knock out at least some of the electronics for several hundred meters...

Are there Rules about flying over neighbors homes???

I live in the country and fortunately my house backs to preserve land. I don't find homes interesting anyway so I always take off and fly directly north over the preserve where there are no homes. There are wild pigs, deer, coyotes, alligators, etc. back there and I'm more interested in those...

    Neighbors think I'm spying

Wishful thinking on the part of the neighbor. I only wish I was interesting enough for someone to spy on me. ;) Mike

My DJI P3A Flew away just now :( what to do?

That's the part I don't understand. How can it calculate distance if it doesn't know where it is (GPS signal lost)? It must look at the last known speed and direction and assume it's still going that way? I doubt it's calculating that based on RC signal. Mike

My DJI P3A Flew away just now :( what to do?

Unfortunately the last GPS entry in the log agrees with your telemetry and I'm sure you've checked there and would have seen it. The log shows about 3 minutes and 46 seconds of data after you initiated RTH but at that point (as your video shows), GPS wasn't being updated. I also can't figure...

Nassau county cops giving me hard time about drone....

We have ~2 acre lots where I live and I almost always fly up and directly over the woods behind me to avoid houses so I haven't had a problem yet. But if a sheriff deputy shows up with complaints, I'd just tell him/her what I'm doing and then handle it professionally. I'd probably ask what I'm...

    Battery firmware???

AFAIK, it won't cause problems. If it does, the software will just require you to update and refuse to fly on that battery. I upgraded to 1.9.60 and then downgraded to 1.8.80 but the batteries won't downgrade. So I'm flying on 1.8.80 with 1.9.60 battery FW with no problems. I think the...

Nassau county cops giving me hard time about drone....

I'm pro LEO and regularly thank them for their service, even if I get pulled over for going 5 MPH over the speed limit! That said, LEO's are people and can make assumptions/mistakes. Have we established that there even is such an ordinance? In my own search, the only restrictions I could find...

P3A fell out of sky... can someone look at data and explain???

That's exactly what I do and have done for years. To clarify, when he says "turn", he means "yaw". For example (assuming default mode 2), you see a dot in the distance and you go up on the right stick to give forward movement (I usually go between 1/4 and 1/2 right stick up). If the dot moves...

P3A fell out of sky... can someone look at data and explain???

I've made it a habit to never go full left or right on either stick as I don't see any need for that except in an emergency situation. Full up/down is sometimes useful but full left/right less so, and avoiding full left or right on either stick will keep you away from CSC. Mike
