tip over first flight, something wrong?

Don't be timid about taking off. Apply the left stick more authoritatively then back off once off the ground.

    Need help identifying video problem

Shadows of the props are falling on the camera lens. You can tell from the shadow you cast at 0:28 that the sun is high and the Phantom is facing the sun.

Crash landed! Please help identify problem w/ video SOLVED

Re: Crash landed! Please help identify problem w/ video Vortex Ring State, aka settling with power. You descended into the rotor's own downwash and lost lift. descend more slowly or with some forward speed.

    SCREW REMOVAL

I got a set of small drivers at Radio Shack. You need a #0 Phillips. Anything larger will "cam" out of the slots, damaging them on the way. As a bonus, the small flat bladed drivers are handy for getting the gimbal dampening balls back into place after a hard landing.

Gimbal sitting GoPro on an angle

Re: Advice on fixing a broken wing There's a thread with video for the P2 shell. Might be helpful for the P1 as well. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7017 I'm sure others will chime in soon.

Gimbal sitting GoPro on an angle

Re: Advice on fixing a broken wing Yow, that's worse than I did to mine! My prop was also rubbing on the arm. I didn't think I needed to disassemble the whole thing so loosened just the screws on the damaged arm. I also removed the screws from the motor so that it hung loose. Then I used a...

Horizontal lines on images (not video)

They are shadows of the prop blades. The camera reads the image sequentially from top to bottom and takes a relatively long time to do so - long enough for the blades to spin by several times. The sun was likely high and in front of the Phantom in this shot.

    Taking Phantom on airplane

I've carried my in the cabin on two trips, first in the cardboard case it came in and then in the Tradecraft case. The TC case is a tight fit in an S80, for sure. It always gets TSA attention and usually a wipedown for the explosives detector. Only snag with customs, entering the Turks and...

New Phantom pilot with n00b questions!

The 4 wire connector on the battery plugs into one of 3 receptacles on the side of the charger. The other two receptacles have 3 and 5 wires so the connector will only fit in one. The charger uses it to determine when all three cells in the battery are equally charged.

cable from GoPro to Transmitter to use GoPro as FPV signal?

Re: cable from GoPro to Transmitter to use GoPro as FPV sign I'm using the same ReadyMadeRC cable but plan to take video from the internal board next time I crack open the case. The cable I'm using now is my second - and connected to my second GoPro. I was flying around trees in the back yard...

    Scared to fly

I'll ask my dad what he considers the whirley things to be. He was Chief of Propulsion Design for the V22. I let him fly my Phantom a few weeks ago - and he had a lot of trouble with the timid tip over on takeoff.

    Scared to fly

Just because they're on a vertical axis rather than a horizontal one? Seems to me there are plenty of other attributes to consider... Variable pitch Cyclically variable pitch Taper Twist They look most like Props to me. In GPS mode, none of the Phantom controls correlate exactly to any...

    Scared to fly

Tipping on takeoff seems to be caused by timidity. If you slowly apply "throttle" * , any weight imbalance or difference in lift from the props becomes apparent. There's not enough motion for the controller to detect and correct. Goose it enough to get off the ground then begin gentle control...

excess weight! go pro power from phantom?

Removing the battery will affect the balance of the gimbal. Not as bad as flying without the whole camera but still a potential for gimbal damage.
